Randy – Ironworkers, Local 29

When Randy joined the Ironworkers Local 29 more than 17 years ago, he was told that it would be a good idea to open a saving account with the Credit Union, so he did. But it wasn’t until last June when his connecting partner raved about his no hassle experience with the Credit Union that Randy took the next step and opened a checking account and refinanced his vehicles. “I was in need of some financial help,” says Randy. “My connecting partner told me that even if your credit is bad, they’ll work with you.” And he was right. Randy was able to easily refinance his two vehicles, pull out some equity to pay off other bills AND cut his car payments in half. “They make everything so easy,” says Randy. It’s not just Randy who has benefitted from being a member. Randy’s wife travels frequently for work and has, in the past, had trouble with having “holds”being placed on her cards during trips. When it happened again recently, Randy says he called the Portland Credit Union office and was able to have the “hold” taken off for a brief time so his wife could get money out of their account.

“They worked with me quickly and without a hassle. You just don’t get that when you work with a big institution.”

Personal, one-on-one service is a major benefit of being a member of the Credit Union. “Whenever I call in, Jamie knows who I am right away,” says Randy. “I don’t even have to tell her account numbers or other information – she knows who I am! They are all so easy to work with!” If you or any of your fellow Ironworkers have questions, just pick up the phone. We’re here for YOU!
