Members can now get their FICO® Score for free…no strings attached!
Have you ever wondered what your credit score was but had no idea how to get it? Some websites will give you a free credit score report, but in return, you have to create an account which then gives them the right to solicit you. Who wants that?
Well, now you’re in luck! Ironworkers USA Credit Union members* who have a checking account or loan account are eligible to receive their FICO® Credit Score free of charge through their online banking or mobile app. No strings attached.
In the coming months, you will be able to view your FICO® Score, updated quarterly, and receive information about key factors that affect your score as well as credit education information to help you stay on top of your score.
Members who use the Ironworkers USA Credit Union app to access mobile banking will be able to opt in and view their FICO® Score in the “More Services” section of the app. Opting in does not affect your credit score.
“Members are curious about their credit score and how it changes over time. Most importantly, they want to understand how it affects the rates they are eligible for,” explains Teri Robinson, CEO of Ironworkers USA Credit Union. “We believe knowledge is power. By offering this tool for free, we are able to put more information in your hands, which supports our goal of empowering members through financial knowledge and education. We strive every day to help you keep and grow your hard-earned money.”
FICO® Scores are the most widely used credit scores and are the financial industry standard. A FICO® Score ranges from 300-850 and is calculated from the data on credit reports at the three major consumer credit bureaus: Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. Creditors, like banks, credit unions, credit card companies, mortgage companies, landlords, and other places that you might owe money to, pay the credit bureaus to report your payment histories; however, all creditors may not report to all three of the credit bureaus.
Lenders, including Ironworkers USA Credit Union, use FICO® Scores to help them quickly, consistently and objectively evaluate a potential borrower’s credit risk. Knowing your FICO® Score will help you understand if lenders view you as a credit risk or not and help you better understand your financial health.
