How Teri Robinson Helps Build a Better Future for Ironworkers – March 2025
When our CEO, Teri Robinson, received news that she was being awarded the prestigious Herb Wegner Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement, she was stunned. This honor is typically reserved for industry veterans nearing retirement, but Teri’s leadership and impact made her an undeniable choice, long before she’s even thinking about slowing down. And that’s great news for Ironworkers USA Credit Union and its members.
Teri accepted the award on March 3rd in Washington, D.C., reflecting on the unexpected path that brought her here. What started as a childhood dream of becoming a Disney caricature artist serendipitously evolved into a 35-year career in the credit union movement. Since taking the helm at Ironworkers USA Credit Union in 2010, she has overseen extraordinary growth, expanding assets from $7.5 million to $133 million, a remarkable 1,667% increase. Membership has also tripled to more than 16,000 Ironworkers nationwide.
And this wasn’t the only honor Teri received over the last few months. In addition to the Herb Wegner Award, she was inducted into the Hall of Leaders at the Credit Union House in Washington, D.C., and recognized as a Summit Icon by the GoWest Credit Union Association. Each of these awards is a testament not just to Teri’s leadership, but to the strength and reputation of Ironworkers USA Credit Union. Credit unions across the country are taking notice of what we’ve built together, an institution that puts Ironworkers first and is setting a new standard for member service.
On March 2nd, Teri was one of just 20 leaders honored in the Hall of Leaders, a distinction reserved for individuals who have dedicated their careers to advancing the credit union movement. “These leaders exemplify the spirit of the Credit Union Movement,” said Troy Stang, president and CEO of GoWest Credit Union Association.
And in October 2024, Teri was named a Summit Icon, recognizing her tireless advocacy, leadership, and commitment to financial empowerment for Ironworkers. Whether helping members avoid predatory lenders, repair credit, or achieve homeownership, her focus remains the same—making sure every Ironworker has the financial tools and support they need to succeed.
Her secret? Listening. Understanding. And never losing sight of the fact that this credit union exists for its members. Just as Ironworkers rely on blueprints to build the world around us, Ironworkers USA Credit Union provides the financial guidance and resources to help members build strong, stable futures.
Above Teri’s desk, a quote reads: “I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I ended up where I needed to be.” On tough days, she looks at that reminder and knows exactly why this work matters. Seeing a member’s relief when a financial solution is found or watching our team celebrate a hard-fought success reinforces what we already know—Ironworkers USA Credit Union is something truly special.
