Credit Score and More
Your credit score can influence the loans you qualify for, the rates you may pay, and the financial options available to you. But understanding your credit shouldn’t feel like guesswork. Credit Score and More gives Ironworkers USA Credit Union members an easy way to see where they stand, learn what affects their score, and stay on top of changes.
Know What Shapes Your Score
Credit scores are generally based on information in your credit report. Factors can include whether you pay bills on time, how much debt you owe, how much of your available credit you are using, the age and types of your accounts, and recent applications for credit.
Paying on time, keeping balances manageable, and using credit responsibly can help build a stronger credit history. Late payments, high balances, collections, and applying for several new accounts within a short period can work against you. Your score may also vary because different lenders and scoring models use information differently.
Check Without the “Ding”
With Credit Score and More, checking your score is considered a soft inquiry, so it will not lower your credit score. Your score is updated every seven days, and you can request a refreshed score as often as once a day.
You can also review your personalized credit report and look for unfamiliar accounts, incorrect personal information, or payment history that does not appear accurate. If something is wrong, the tool includes an option to file a dispute with TransUnion.
Stay Alert and Look Ahead
Credit Score and More monitors your credit daily and sends email alerts when significant changes are detected. These may include a new account, address or employment change, delinquency, or credit inquiry. Monitoring these changes can help you stay informed and spot activity that may need your attention.
Wondering how a financial decision could affect your credit? Use the Credit Score Simulator to explore how certain choices might change your score before you act. It can help you plan for goals like applying for a loan, paying down debt, or improving your overall credit profile.
Your Credit. Your Next Move.
Credit Score and More is free through the Ironworkers USA Credit Union mobile app and Online Banking. Check it regularly, use what you learn, and make informed decisions that keep your financial goals moving forward.
